WQAM Jingles Needed I am desperately looking for the following WQAM jingle packages: • Ullman “One-derful” Series • Pepper Fun Series • CRC Series 34 Holiday Series • Futursonic Time and Temperature Jingles • PAMS Series 25D “Cheerleaders” - Male Vocals • PAMS Series 17 and 18 - Instrumental Cuts • A 1963 package by a group called the Skipjacks It was a complete set of jingles including new time and temperature jingles. • Any jingles prior to 1962 If you have any of these please contact: wqam@560.com

The majority of WQAM’s jingles were produced by PAMS of Dallas. PAMS was the most popular jingle producer in the 60s and 70s and their jingles far surpsassed the other companies in quality and popularity. When I started listening to WQAM in 1962, PAMS Series 15, 17 and 18 were in use along with R.H. Ullman’s “One-Derful” Series. WQAM was automated at the time and jingles produced by Futursonic were used to give the time and temperature. In 1963, WQAM produced their own jingle package of over 1000 cuts to replace the PAMS, Ullman and Futursonic jingles including a complete new set of time and temperature jingles. The underlying theme sounds like 10 Little Indians! (See this Miami Herald article for more information). At the time, I really hated these "home-grown" jingles. They just did not compare to the quality of the PAMS or Ullman jingles. I used to call the station and beg them to bring back the PAMS jingles. (I wonder how many other people called and requested jingles rather than records). Eventually, they did bring back the older packages and phased out most of the Skipjack jingles. Although my requests probably had little to do with it, I guess they didn't hurt. Around late 1963,, WQAM returned to PAMS for Series 25, “The Happy Difference” and continued to use PAMS for most of their jingles for the remainder of the Sixties with PAMS Series 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31. Also, some cuts from PAMS Series 20, 23, 34, and 37 were acquired at some point. In the In the late Sixties and Seventies PAMS Series 40, Clyde, a custom series callled Q56 and a custom Grid Series were obtained. A few packages were obtained from other producers. One was Pepper Sounds’ “Fun” Series package. It’s easily recognized as the theme sounds like Woody Woodpecker’s laugh. Ullman’s “Grabbers“ Series was obtained at some point. It was the source of the famous “WQAM Shout”, probably the most used jingle on the station throughout the mid Sixties.
